I predict that the new Medicare Supplement Plan N will be a very popular plan.
Why do I predict this?
Medicare Advantage plans were cut by 5% this year and will be cut by another 5% next year. As a result of these cuts, many plans have raised their premiums and / or lowered their benefits.
The reason why many people enrolled in Advantage plans was because of the low (or even no) monthly premiums. With many plans, this is no longer the case.
The new Supplemental Plan N may be the perfect answer as it combines the following features:
1. It allows Medicare beneficiaries to share some of the costs of their health care
For example, with the Plan N, you will pay your Part B annual deductible and limited copays, such as $20 when you go to the doctor and $50 if you use the E.R.
2. It maintains the freedom of a regular Medicare Supplement
Medicare Supplements allow you to go to any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare.
With these features, I predict the Plan N may be the “go to” plan in 2010 for people who get Medicare.
